There is a range of topics on offer that develop your skills in all aspects of snowsports instruction. The interesting array of topics are led by APSI Trainers who are passionate about the particular topic they are leading and excited to share knowledge with you. Grab a friend and choose a topic you'd like to focus on. You can book one, or multiple days and each day counts as an update for your certification.

PRICING & HOW TO BOOK

All Winter Week events are $173 for the full day of training and are packaged with 1 year membership. If you already have 2024 membership ($190) then this will be deducted from the total at checkout.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Winter Week Days count as a certification update and ISIA stamp update (in Alpine and Snowboard).
  • To attend Winter Week, you must be currently employed by a snowsports school.
  • All Winter Week days are full days of training (8:15am - 4:00pm) unless otherwise stated.
  • All APSI products are subject to reaching the minimum numbers required to operate. If minimum numbers for this event are not met 7 days prior to the commencement of the event, the event will be cancelled. Please consider this if booking travel/accommodation for this event.

TURN TRANSITION TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

Monday 12 August | Cameron Wallace | Alpine

Join APSI Trainer, Cameron Wallace, for a day of training focusing on turn transition and how it affects skill blending and ski performance. Cam will then build on your understanding of turn transition to develop your high-level skiing.

BIOMECHANICS & ANATOMY OF SEPARATION

Tuesday 13 August | Ryan Kerr | Alpine

Join APSI Trainer, and qualified physiotherapist, Ryan Kerr, for a day of training with specific focus on the biomechanics involved with various aspects of skiing. Ryan will also go into detail on the anatomy of separation and how this differs as performance increases. 

The session will commence indoors to develop an understanding of the body and how it moves in relation to skiing, before heading on-snow to implement the concepts discussed into your skiing. This training day will not only improve your skiing but will also develop a better understanding of how to ski and how to teach.

Please note: indoor shoes/sneakers will also be required for this training day.

 

VIDEO FEEDBACK WITH MOVEMENT ANALYSIS TRAINING

DEMONSTRATIONS AND MA TRAINING

Friday 16 August | Matt Smith | Alpine

This clinic will focus on basic christie, wedeln and parallel demonstrations during the morning. Alpine Technical Committee member, Matt Smith, will provide plenty of opportunity to practice while receiving individualised feedback. Various drills and activities will be incorporated to address specific issues with skills, basic position, turn shape, performance and transition. Through repetition and progressive challenges, Matt will improve your technique. 

In the afternoon, Matt will lead an MA session that will assist with your analysis of intermediate and advanced skiers. Matt will highlight visual indicators to determine the weakest skill and share his methods to address these skill deficiencies.
