ALPINE LEVEL 3

Our alpine level three qualification is aimed at the intermediate class and private lesson instructor.

This qualification is suitable for experienced, working, level two certified instructors who would like to teach more advanced progressions.

COURSE

The five-day course covers the skills needed to teach intermediate skiers from pole plant to carved medium turns and how to introduce guests to situational skiing.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering and carving as used in the Australian teaching system.

COURSE PREREQUESITES

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Currently working for a professional snowsports school in Australia or abroad.
  • Passed all units of the alpine level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)
  • Have a minimum of one full-time season of instructing experience

EXAM

The two-day exam utilises both the station assessment type for skiing and demonstration tasks and the group scenario assessment type for teaching tasks. The theory paper is delivered in the weeks preceding the on-snow exam.

EXAM PREREQUESITES

  • Have completed all units of the alpine level three course
  • Have a minimum of 100 hours teaching experience
  • Have completed a minimum of 25 hours of in-house training with an APSI approved snowsport school (in addition to the course)

 

 SNOWBOARD

 

SNOWBOARD LEVEL 3

Our snowboard level three qualification is aimed at the intermediate class and private lesson instructor.

This qualification is suitable for experienced, working, level two certified instructors who would like to teach more advanced progressions.

COURSE

The five-day course covers the skills needed to teach intermediate riders strategies for refined turns through to the introduction of freestyle and situational riding.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, rider analysis, riding and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering and carving as used in the Australian teaching system.

COURSE PREREQUISITES

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Currently working for a professional snowsports school in Australia or abroad
  • Passed all units of the snowboard level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)
  • Have a minimum of one full-time season of instructing experience

This qualification is suitable for experienced, level two certified instructors who would like to teach more advanced progressions.

The five-day course covers the skills needed to teach intermediate telemark skiers from intermediate up to advanced telemark turns and how to introduce guests to situational skiing.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering and carving as used in the Australian teaching system.

  • Passed all units of the telemark level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)

 NORDIC

 

NORDIC LEVEL 3

Our nordic level three qualification is aimed at those wishing to teach more advanced nordic progressions.

This qualification is suitable for experienced, level two certified instructors who would like to teach intermediate to advanced nordic lessons and includes an introduction to biathlon, alpine turns and telemark technique.

COURSE

The four-day course covers the skills needed to teach nordic skiers from intermediate up to marathon and race skating.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability.

  • Passed all units of the nordic level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)
