Nordic level 1

Nordic Level One

Our nordic level one qualification is aimed at people who are interested in entering the snowsport industry for the first time.

Course

The nordic level one course is our introductory course.

The two-day course covers the skills needed to teach first time, beginner nordic skiers (specialising in teaching children) up to a snowplough stop / turn.

Course Prerequisites

  • Be a current member (included in course package)
  • Own the current teaching manual (included in course package)
  • Be 16 years of age at the commencement of the course
  • Minimum intermediate skier ability (confident in classic nordic skiing style)

Exam

The nordic level one exam is conducted in a training day/continuous assessment format during the two-day course.

Nordic level 2

Nordic Level Two

Our nordic level two qualification is aimed at level one certified instructors who wish to teach beginner and lower intermediate nordic skiers.

Course

The three-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner adults and children up to basic skating skills.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability.

Course Prerequisites

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the nordic level one exam (or have been approved for RPL)

Exam

The one-day exam utilises both the station assessment type for skiing and demonstration tasks and the group scenario assessment type for teaching tasks.

  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Have completed all units of the nordic level two course
Nordic level 3

Nordic Level Three

Our nordic level three qualification is aimed at those wishing to teach more advanced nordic progressions.

This qualification is suitable for experienced, level two certified instructors who would like to teach intermediate to advanced nordic lessons and includes an introduction to biathlon, alpine turns and telemark technique.

Course

The four-day course covers the skills needed to teach nordic skiers from intermediate up to marathon and race skating.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability.

  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the nordic level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)

Exam

The one-day exam utilises both the station assessment type for skiing and demonstration tasks and the group scenario assessment type for teaching tasks.

Exam Prerequisites

  • Have completed all units of the nordic level three course
Nordic level 4

Nordic Level Four

Our nordic level four qualification is aimed at experienced, level three certified instructors who wish to teach advanced lessons and work towards becoming a nordic instructor trainer.

The level four qualification is delivered utilising modular style training and assessment.

Candidates wishing to participate in our nordic level four program are encouraged to contact the nordic technical director to discuss their eligibility and to set up an individual training program.

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the nordic level three exam (or have been approved for RPL)
  • Have a minimum of two full-time seasons of instructing experience
